My Friend Never Buys Hemp

A friend of mine almost never buys hemp clothing.

To her, hemp always felt too wrinkled, too stiff, a little too intentionally “natural.”
Not as straightforward as cotton, not as defined as wool.

Some time ago, while developing samples, I casually gave her a set of hemp loungewear.

The pants were slightly too long for her, so before sending them out, I hemmed them myself.

For a long time afterwards, I noticed that almost every time I saw her, she was wearing that set.

Sometimes while going downstairs for coffee on a weekend morning.
Sometimes in photos sent late at night while replying to messages.
Sometimes layered under an old coat on the way out.

She still says she doesn’t buy hemp.

But she keeps wearing that hemp set.

Over time, I started realizing that many people don’t actually dislike certain materials.

They simply haven’t encountered them in a form that feels natural to live in.

Good hemp is not a fabric that tries to impress immediately.
